Overview
Wilfred is the divine patriarch of Luminaris in Varnhallow before Thalion Zenith succeeds him. He is an old and respected mage who serves Eltaru and the Order, with Frederick as his closest advisor and Benedict as an old friend.
Service in Varnhallow
In younger years, Wilfred blesses the people of Luminaris and rallies hope for the city's future. He later withdraws from public life. He continues to oversee the city.
Michael trusts Wilfred with new patriarchs. Wilfred looks after Kazehiro, stays with Eira and Kaelion in Halcyra to teach them local governance and attendant management, and later brings Luminaris's rising timerift activity to Michael's attention.
Succession and Death
Wilfred prepares to step down as patriarch of Luminaris as timerifts worsen. After Rhyzmar recommends Xarion to Wilfred, Xarion puts himself forward as a candidate for the office, meets Wilfred and Benedict, and receives Wilfred's public endorsement. Wilfred then sets out for Astralynne to inform Eltaru about his retirement and the timerifts.
Xarion and Aelius / Ignatius intercept Wilfred on the road after the succession is secured. Wilfred overloads into white particles before Aelius's white fire reaches him. His empty wagon becomes the only public trace of him, giving Xarion grounds to close the roads and consolidate control of Luminaris.
Family
Wilfred's wife, children, and grandchildren are consumed by a timerift shortly before Xarion arrives in Varnhallow. After that loss, Wilfred volunteers for dangerous service and wants to serve the Order to the end.
