Overview
The Maraveth Ascendant Consulate is the government complex of Maraveth and the seat of Malverand rule after Barachiel's disappearance. Michael rules from it, and the Guardians of Malverand gather there for imperial councils, succession disputes, shard decisions, provincial rebellions, and guardian disputes.
Structure
The consulate towers over Maraveth as an enormous white-and-gold complex of halls, courtyards, gilded chambers, and vaulted ceilings. A reserved skyship dock sits high above the city, with a broad gold-and-glass skybridge running from the dock into the building. The dock is guarded by posted mages and reserved for guardians and their direct subordinates.
The Malverand vault lies deep beneath the consulate. Built as a hidden storehouse for god cores and dangerous artifacts beyond the cores, it lets the guardians seal divine communication, shield origin discussions from god-core beings, store unclaimed shards, and later retrieve second-generation shards.
History
The guardians meet in the consulate throughout Malverand's height. Arcanis brings experimental god cores there, Michael proposes the underground vault there, Barachiel leads councils there, and Arcanis maps Valrindor's solar system there. Eliona also oversees the consulate's operations before becoming a guardian over Shaoying.
After Barachiel disappears, Michael leaves Barachiel's chair empty and governs provisionally from the consulate. Sariel fails to claim the spiral shards there, and more than a thousand candidates from across Malverand arrive for the deadly shard trial that follows.
During the Fall of Malverand, the consulate remains a meeting place for surviving guardians including Michael, Raphael, Isandriel, Eremion, and Jeremiah. Isandriel returns there after Jorhan's corruption consumes Durakarn and asks the guardians to answer it. Raphael eventually descends into the vault beneath it to retrieve second-generation shards for himself and Eremion.
