The Jazarel Empire was Jeremiah’s independent territory in Valrindor, with Jazarel as its capital. Its lands included cities and villages around Jazarel Lake, beyond the capital itself.
Territory and capital
Jazarel Lake was an enormous inland sea in elevated, mountainous terrain. Cities stood along its shore, with river systems conveying fresh water toward Jazarel.
Jeremiah traded minerals and food for constructs and tools, while his architectural designers helped build across Malverand. The capital had industrial districts, cargo docks and rail vehicles. Constructs patrolled the streets, sweeping debris with gusts of air and washing walls and statues with streams of water. The Grand Jazarel Consulate stood in the northern city as Jeremiah’s stronghold.
History
Jeremiah’s province seceded from Malverand in 252 BX. In 2082 AX, he again declared his lands fully independent, proclaimed the Jazarel Empire and crowned himself the one true god.
The empire was devastated during the Jazarel Battle. Members of Thalion’s Order attacked Jazarel wearing Uriandel’s colors and falsely claimed to serve Abraxas, provoking Jeremiah’s campaign against Uriandel. Thalion drew Raphael into attacking the capital while Jeremiah was away. Uriandel then attacked the Consulate while Jeremiah fought Raphael. The Consulate’s cosmic barriers initially held against the bombardment.
Thalion planned to flood the capital from Jazarel Lake. Igor and earth mages excavated its shoreline, while Benedict, Sylvia and other ice mages held the water behind a frozen barrier. Isandriel destroyed the barrier, draining the lake completely and sending the water southward across the empire. Millions died in the capital and surrounding towns and villages. The shielded Consulate initially survived the flood, but Jazarel was left in ruins. Isandriel killed both Uriandel and Jeremiah.
By 2103 AX, Igor was helping rebuild the former empire’s lands, and towns and villages were beginning to recover. The rebuilt capital is the independent city-state of Jazarel.
