Void Ray

magicorigin-magic

Overview

Void rays are beam-like origin-magic attacks used by Abraxas through void magic. They emerge from voids, spatial fractures, and the sides of a battlefield. Void magic drains from emptiness, giving Abraxas's attacks non-essence properties.

Abraxas fires void rays from voids, spatial fractures, and battlefield edges. Ravira, Soria, Zain, and Isandro use black-line or black-ray attacks that pierce defenses, cleave the air, or detonate after impact.

Uses

During Abraxas's battle with Thalion and Ozaith, void rays form from the sides and from voids in the sky. They fork into cascading arcs, drain color from the battlefield, break layered defenses, and produce explosions of displaced reality. Stray void beams trail Thalion into Qarezh, where their detonations vaporize the city after his impact ruins it.

Abraxas later uses the same technique at a controlled scale near Zeydrith. With zigzagging hand motions, he opens fractures in nearby space and sends void rays through stone, carving it cleanly and detonating it into fragments. During the attack on Pyrenis, colorless voids above Abraxas spit out black rays that behave like cosmic rays or beams and retain non-essence properties.

Black-Line Attacks

Ravira, Soria, Zain, and Isandro use origin-magic or imperial nanite-tech black-line attacks: black lines, black rays, or a black line of nothingness. These attacks come through pointing gestures, dragging motions, snapping gestures, or rapid zigzagging movements and use origin-magic or imperial nanite-tech properties. They can splinter shield layers, invert a cosmic barrier, cleave through the air, pierce aether and divine defenses, and detonate after impact.

Abraxas's versions penetrate deeply, follow targets reliably, and box targets in. Ravira and Soria's battlefield versions have weaker penetration, tracking, and boxing behavior. Ravira's thin black lines still force constant evasive movement, and Zain's Khauren-driven version can pierce targets in sequence before detonating terrain. Isandro's controlled version reads stable shield frequencies, passing through a solid divine shield until Eira makes the shield uneven enough to deflect it.
