Overview
The Ember Spire is Kyranthos's seat of government in Morozkaya. It is the council chamber for the Morozkaya Diarchy, where the diarchs, council, Morozkayan mages, and visiting delegations meet over leadership, defense, trade, and alliances.
Design and Layout
The spire stands on a gentle slope at the rear of Kyranthos and is reached by broad stairs and a massive stone door. It is built from dark volcanic stone, including obsidian-black stone veined with amber, with polished walls, grand arches, and lava channels that heat and illuminate its rooms. At the center of the council chamber is a round table with ornate chairs, including two larger diarch seats with orange and ice-blue patterns.
The building includes guest chambers, baths fed by carefully controlled warm water channels, corridors, large windows, and outer walkways. A volcanic arena behind the spire is used for combat training.
History
Before the Ember Spire is built, its future site is the rear slope of Kyranthos. Pyrathalor later takes part in building the completed Ember Spire.
During Kazimir and Kyrana's diarchy, Pyrathalor brings Vianna to the spire, where the Morozkayan leaders receive her. Vianna trains in the arena behind it, joins council meetings there, and receives the Glaive of Frost and Fire beneath its arches. After Kazimir and Kyrana die, Vianna returns to the Ember Spire, gathers the council, and continues Morozkaya's government with Ivan, Liana, and surviving Morozkayan mages.
Radomir becomes the other diarch in a meeting held there and uses the spire as his governing seat. The spire hosts later meetings with Virel, Bogdan, Garrik, Sigurd, and other allied leaders and visitors.
When the timerift opens inside the spire, Sigurd's temporal magic collapses it, creating a shockwave that tears through the building, destroys volcanic stonework and magic-infused pillars, and leaves nearby buildings damaged. Ivan, Zhang, and Kren vanish in the event. Radomir orders immediate repairs, and Morozkayan fire and earth mages begin stabilizing and rebuilding the spire.
The spire is operational afterward. Radomir welcomes travelers from Garrik and Kaldaryn there, and Vianna later sits in its high-backed chair during a council meeting about Garrik's message, Virel's request, and whether to send Morozkayan mages.
