Overview
Tharezh is the Sultan of Ereshval in 2107 AX, ruling from Qarezh as the Plains of Eternity threatens the northern frontier. He is cautious about sending skilled mages into the plains. He approves the expedition backed by Drashir, Vashir, and Kallion after the northern wall is overrun and Kaelion agrees to train Ereshval's temporal mages.
Rule and Magic
Tharezh governs through viziers, palace guards, frontier commanders, and the sultan's magecorps. At court, he wears bronze-gold robes and has deep-brown eyes and neatly groomed dark hair. He orders Drashir and Vashir to evacuate the northern border with Ereshval mages and soldiers, keeps Kaelion at the palace to teach temporal magic, and appoints skilled mages to the expedition.
Tharezh is a temporal mage with low capability when Kaelion first meets him. Under Kaelion's instruction, Tharezh's latent talent develops, and he becomes adept at basic temporal spells.
Plains Expedition
Tharezh contributes Ereshval personnel and ships to the expedition into the Plains of Eternity, with Drashir and Vashir commanding the smaller Ereshval fleet. When Thalion brings his army to Qarezh, Tharezh reluctantly allows the force to remain after Thalion's men agree to labor for the city. Thalion urges him to evacuate before the Thalion-Abraxas War reaches Qarezh. Some residents leave the city; others remain to defend their home. His government hosts Thalion's patriarchs during the preparations, and Tharezh appreciates Benedict's improvements to the city's underground systems, production lines, security, and water distribution.
