Overview

Linzheng is the capital of Linsothar and a sprawling port city in Valrindor. It is later used as a relay point for messages traveling toward Chronasis.

Cityscape

Linzheng is a sprawling ocean city with red rooftops, open courtyards, modest light-wood buildings, and low construction. Its bridges stretch far into the sea, connecting islands and giving access to ocean-facing promenades, active markets, and fishing boats offshore. The waters below the bridges are deep enough that Jin Leiyun cannot reach the bottom during a dive.

The emperor's palace is grand and understated, with gardens and fountains. Visitors traveling on Garrik's recommendation stay there and tour the city's bridges, markets, and promenades with guides.

History

Isaac, Simon, Garrik, and Astrid travel to Linzheng after leaving Thundermarch. Their first work there is to quell an uprising led by a minor warlord, which Isaac resolves quickly by enforcing peace.

Eira later makes Linzheng her first destination after leaving Kaldaryn. She searches the city's archives, which hold fragmented Great Shaper War records about Shaoying, Linsothar, and Hengvaris, including accounts of two champions who pushed back Zharrek and the shapers of Shroudvale.

When messages need to reach Chronasis, a skyship is set to carry them to Linzheng so diplomats can relay them through successive stops. The same route is disrupted near Linzhou Station, a rail stop on the Linsothar border route, and Aldar names Linzheng as his destination during his work to clear the tracks.
