Overview
Pure essence beings are beings made mostly or entirely from essence. They include golden wisps, Orin's wisp-derived body, gods, god-core beings such as Hrzai, Cassian, Splin, and other creatures with unusually dense essence.
Golden Wisps
Golden wisps drift through the ancient Plains at night as small glowing lights. They hover around living beings, spark when touched, and can absorb nearby essence. One wisp follows Eira for days, answers her with sparks, learns writing from her divine-light signs, and develops self-awareness through its attempt to copy her.
As essence grows denser near the source, the wisp grows into golden strands, learns speech, and takes a young boy's form. The boy chooses the name Orin. Strange wisps still linger in the untouched wilderness after Orin's transformation, and Orin's later nature comes from his origin as a wisp-copy.
Gods, god cores, and dense creatures
Pure essence beings also include gods, god-core beings, Cassian, and dense creatures. Gods are pure essence and channel through the God Realm. Concentrated essence, will, and spellcraft can create or house divine beings as god cores. Hrzai is a god-core being. Her relationship with Orin produces Cassian, a pure-essence being who mimics a human body. Gods and Cassian are both pure-essence beings.
Splin is nearly pure essence like the gods and wrapped in flesh. At least one colossal fish is a being of essence, and the unusually dense ibrashi-like predator that swallows Nadun is a being of essence with density far exceeding a typical ibrashi.
