Kharad is the capital and largest city of Ithyreon in Valrindor. Harald rules from the city, which lies within a mountain amid snowy peaks. Rivers cascade through the surrounding valley toward a large lake encircled by pine trees.
Layout and architecture
A rectangular opening in the mountainside serves as the city's entrance. A winding road leads to it, while an outcropping outside can accommodate a skyship. The entrance opens into a cavernous hall wide enough for several wagons. Wooden carts drawn by creatures with hunched backs and long necks carry passengers farther inside.
Doors are carved into the mountain walls. Lights hang from the cavern ceiling above the passages leading into the city. Towers of gray rock threaded with white veins stand among buildings of the same stone and scattered wooden homes.
At the central square, fences and guards surround a steep drop into an abyss. The opening below is several houses wide. Darkness creatures have emerged from the abyss, killing residents and damaging nearby homes. The damaged houses have been rebuilt.
